History & Significance

Perched atop the seven hills of Tirumala, the temple of Sri Venkateswara is one of the oldest continuously functioning temples in India, with references dating back over a thousand years. Its gold-plated Vimana and the sacred Ananda Nilayam sanctum have drawn pilgrims from every corner of the subcontinent for centuries.

Believed to be a Swayambhu (self-manifested) form of Lord Vishnu, Tirumala is the most visited pilgrimage site on earth. Devotees offer their hair and undertake the Suprabhata seva at dawn, seeking the fulfilment of vows and the removal of life's obstacles.
